On 21 February 2025, Sandbag took part in the “Making a Success of the Clean Industry Pact” seminar at the French Permanent Representation to the EU. Director Adrien Assous highlighted the urgent need to phase out free allocation and strengthen the CBAM to ensure Europe’s industry decarbonises fairly and effectively.
On 12 February 2025, Sandbag joined the high-level conference “A Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism for Climate” in Paris. Organised by the French Treasury, the event explored the first year of CBAM implementation, future evolutions, and international cooperation on carbon pricing.
Sandbag spoke at the European Parliament lunch debate hosted by MEP Pascal Arimont on 4 February 2025, presenting ideas to strengthen CBAM for aluminium. The discussion focused on closing loopholes, protecting Europe’s industry, and ensuring aluminium’s role in the green transition.
