The panel at Greenpeace and Sandbags EU Climate targets event

On January 22nd, the European Commission set out its proposals both for an EU Climate Package for 2030, and for structural reform of the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS). Chaired by Baroness Bryony Worthington, Sandbag and Greenpeace held the following meeting to discuss the greenhouse gas reduction targets for 2020 and 2030, and to demonstrate how the targets are undermined by the surplus in the Emissions Trading Scheme. The discussion was aided by Green MEP Bas Eickhout, and Jon Gorvett, Environment Attaché at the Permanent Representation of the UK to the EU.
